How much forest can still be protected / How much forest is left?
There are still 67.15 million hectares of virgin forest in Peru. According to our current concept, we would need 671.50 billion euros in donations for this. Unfortunately, we do not currently know what proportion of this land is registered in the land register and can be purchased at all.
In British Columbia (Canada), there are still 22.6 million hectares of virgin forest. According to our current concept, we would need 226 billion euros in donations for permanent protection. Unfortunately, we do not know at present what proportion of these areas can be purchased.
Worldwide, 2.6% of the earth's land surface is still intact. Still: 4.17 million square meters of wilderness that we can still protect.
