Who is Wilderness International and what exactly does the organization do?
Wilderness International is a non-profit foundation with the goal of conserving ecologically valuable and acutely threatened wilderness areas. Currently we protect primeval forests in western Canada's temperate rainforest as well as in the eastern Peruvian tropics. The land is purchased through land registration and is thus legally protected. The land purchases are refinanced by donations for so-called wilderness sponsorships. Wilderness sponsors receive a personalized certificate with the exact geo-coordinates of the protected forest piece.
The foundation is also committed to environmental education, working with several thousand schoolchildren each year, with whom it also carries out local projects such as tree-planting campaigns and schoolyard greening.
