What is the Environmental Ambassador Program and how can I participate?

Note: Our Environmental Ambassador Program is currently on hold. As soon as we resume it, you will find all the important information and application documents on our website

This is an international scholarship program for nature conservation and global responsibility. The Environmental Ambassador Program enables particularly committed students to get to know our protected areas, which they have helped to protect during the Wilderness Run.

The centerpiece of the scholarship program is a multi-week expedition to areas in Canada protected by Wilderness International. Committed students in grades 9–11 experience true wilderness up close, learn about the country's culture, and carry out their own scientific projects. This creates an emotional connection and enables them to report authentically on this ecosystem and its significance. After the expedition, the scholarship recipients become environmental ambassadors who inspire others to protect the environment. In the past, students have been able to share their experiences with others by creating a traveling exhibition featuring their research findings, among other things. Many former scholarship recipients continue to be involved with Wilderness International after the program ends, for example through a voluntary ecological year or as working students.
