What can I do to protect the rainforest?

There are many ways to protect the rainforest. For example, you can protect a specific piece of rainforest forever by making a donation to us. Or you can support our work to protect the rainforest in other ways. You can like and share our posts on social media, inform your friends and family about the importance of environmental and rainforest protection, or even start your own fundraising campaigns. You could also organize a wilderness run at your school—or at least inform the teaching staff and get the ball rolling.

There are also things you can do in your everyday life to avoid harming the rainforest. For example, you can pay attention to where the products you buy at the supermarket come from. The main reasons for rainforest loss are agriculture and livestock farming, and most of the products produced there are not consumed locally, but are often shipped around the world. This means that by making sure you consume local and seasonal foods and eat less meat, you can help prevent deforestation in the rainforest. If you are looking for an exotic product, look for FairTrade and organic labels.

When buying wood, it is also important to consider where the trees come from. It is best to see if you can get a used item from your family or at a second-hand market. If you have to buy new, look for the "Blue Angel" seal for recycled products and buy wood from local producers whenever possible. It is also important to buy furniture and products that are as durable as possible, will last a lifetime, and can perhaps even be passed on to future generations.
