How accurate is the calculation of the carbon footprint?

Wherever possible, we include the entire life cycle of a product or activity in the CO2 calculation (e.g. not only gasoline combustion of the car, but also emissions from raw material extraction, production and disposal of the vehicle).

We use relatively few averages and generalizations in our calculators. Our primary goal in developing the calculators and creating our database has always been to enable everyone to calculate their personal footprint as accurately as possible. This way, people who hardly ever drive a car, for example, are not held responsible for emissions from infrastructure such as highways, which are added to every footprint as a flat rate in many common calculators. In many places, however, you also have options for how accurately you want to enter the data.

As high as our standards are, unfortunately the available data does not always allow us to provide specific values. And sometimes the query would simply be too complicated and tedious for you, and you would despair in front of your computer or abandon it, as it is very complex to reflect the wealth of detail of various factors in theCO2 factors. In these cases, we also use average values, which have been conscientiously collected from a wide variety of sources, compared, and selected according to numerous quality criteria.
