How can we protect the forest from fire?

Fortunately, naturally occurring fires are rarely a problem in an intact rainforest (whether temperate or tropical). Large-scale fires are extremely rare. The intact rainforests in our protected areas are simply too humid for fires that break out there to not extinguish themselves. In the event of a fire, the area would also regenerate itself.

Fires are usually caused by human intervention and can spread more easily in fragmented rainforest areas surrounded by large areas of farmland or monoculture forests. That is why it is so important to protect large, contiguous forest areas. In the event of a fire, however, the area would regenerate itself.

On the website https://www.globalforestwatch.org/map/ , you can track current and past fires. There you can see that our protected areas are not affected by fires.
