Does Wilderness International also plant new trees?

In the past, as part of the "My Tree—My Dresden" project, we were able to plant over 110,000 trees and shrubs together with many supporters, enriching the landscape in and around Dresden in a way that is appropriate for the location and bee-friendly.

We have decided to conclude this large, wonderful but also very resource-intensive project and are now focusing our resources where our help is most needed: in the endangered Amazon region in Peru and British Columbia on the west coast of Canada. The forests there are still true primeval forests. They are among the last intact land surfaces on our planet and are characterized by extraordinary biodiversity and gigantic giant trees, some of which are thousands of years old and store vast amounts ofCO2. These forests influence our entire global climate by filtering and cooling the air, producing oxygen, storing and purifying water, creating rain, and providing a unique refuge for the survival of many animal and plant populations. The Amazon rainforest in particular is considered one of the so-called tipping elements that can throw the global climate out of balance – if we do not protect this ecosystem in the long term.
