How does Wilderness International select the areas of land to be protected?

We select land parcels based on their particular need for protection, in consultation with scientific partners and nature conservation experts. Decisive factors include biodiversity, biomass,_{CO2 storage capacity}, geographical location, and acute threats. We check these parameters on site in so-called "rapid assessments" before making the final purchase.
